married to transfer ownership of a vehicle, authorities said.
According to police and jail reports:
Shannon Cammack, 27, of 103 Battey Drive N.W., is charged with false statements or writings.
Police began investigating Cammack after the victim was called by a car dealership about possibly repossessing her 2003 Dodge Ram truck. The victim had purchased the truck with her former boyfriend, and both their names appeared on the bill of sale.
The victim called her ex-boyfriend, who told her he’d get someone to make the payment. The victim then discovered that Cammack, now dating her former boyfriend, had the truck’s title and her name as the owner.
An officer checked county records, and found Cammack signed an affidavit certifying she and the victim’s ex-boyfriend were married. That was the only way the vehicle’s ownership could be transferred without the victim’s signature. The officer then found that Cammack wasn’t married. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
Cammack was released on $3,500 bai
